She was kind and handed down the versatile "P."
What is it about that letter that just makes me smile when I say it? Oh yeah, the 6-year-old boy that resides in house and in my head.
The assignment: to create a list of 10 of my favorite P things. Only 10!? Well, it ended up being more difficult than I initially thought, but I got Hubs involved. Fun pillow talk.
If you would like to take the Alphabet Challenge as well, please leave me a comment requesting a letter. Get in line fast - R, S, T, N, L and E will go first-come, first-serve.
Here we go, in no particular order...
1. Palm and Pine trees: as you can tell from my header, I'm a beach girl. I love the sound, the smell, the glorious textures of sand and salt water. Palm trees for the tropical variety. Pine trees for my beloved Walton County.
2. Pop Culture: from People.com and Entertainment Weekly to "Grey's Anatomy" and "Lost" - I honestly cannot get enough mindless fluff. My everyday life is stress, worry, responsibility. My downtime has to include Worst Dress Lists and who's dating whom. It's a mental imperative.
3. Political Satire: Cartoons, The Daily Show, SNL, Craig Ferguson - I like to swallow the state of our country/world with a lump of sugar. It just goes down easier.
(This was in reference to the knock-down-drag-out battle for Dem. Nominee, but it pretty much sums up my feelings of how the whole President/Secretary of State relationship is going to go.)
4. Pink: the singer and the color.
5. Parent: my own and being one.
6. Pantone Books: For this retired publishing gal, one of the things I miss the most is the magical Pantone Portfolio (truth be told, my selection of color books somehow made it out in my personal box when I left the agency. Sorry Mrs. S - but I figured it made up for some of the mental abuse.) I used them at 2 A.M. press checks and to help me pick the perfect shade of soft yellow for my bridesmaid dresses (maid of honor, you've been locked out of comments). They now help me with house paint colors and freelance projects. They even smell cool.

7. Penises: think of it in terms of Biology, not porn (one of the P words Hubs wanted me to include.) I LOVE men! I have an incredible husband and two beautiful sons. I worship my older brother and my ex-Green Beret, hard-working, soft-as-a-teddy bear father. I have some wonderful girl friends, honest, and my mother is the best, but there is nothing like a man to shoot it to you straight, share a juvenile laugh, give you a random flirty smile to make your day. Men can also look like this...

I borrowed that shot from the Nice One over at Even the Nice Ones. Please visit her for more Daniel Craig eye candy and great posts.
8. Porch: preferably the screened-in type, but I'll take them pretty much any way. It boggles the mind why this trend has not taken off in Texas like it has in the South. We have the "Bug of the Month" around here. One day we're going to add one to this home. I cannot wait.
9. Preppy: paisley, madras, Izod, penny loafers, Bermuda shorts, pink and green, sweaters around shoulders, Lily Pulitzer, "Town and Country" - I. Love. It. All.

10. Phenex 1 and 2: the miracle formula that keeps Youngest healthy and whole. I thank God for it every night.

VERY well done... i am impressed. although you did kind of go on and on about those pantene books that i have never heard of. i get cranky when i feel like i am out of the loop.
gotta love the penises. or is it peni?
i'll bite, too. but if you give ms. tena a good letter, you sure as hell better give me one too!
Nice work! I like the penis one. I also would have picked porn, you really should listen to the hubby more. Just sayin...
And at least you got Tena to bite. She wanted no part of my letter meme. I think she was skeered I would give her something hard. Big baby...
I have a screened porch here in SC. We did it ourselves a few years ago. Loves it!!! Hates bugs!!!
Job well done. You are always so well spoken I admire that about you.
Penises, love it! Men do tell the honest truth.
Pop Culture- I am a gossip hound, I read up on it way too much.
I went through this whole post looking for the LePew. Ya just gotta love Pepe LePew.
Hey, I love pop culture and penises too! It's even better when the two collide!
I still have said yellow skirt. I can no longer wear it...perhaps one of my thighs could. But I have dreams of making it into a lovely pillow someday...it is a great yellow damask.
I am surprised the Theta flower did not make the list but we do move on........
I am all about a good palm tree ;0)
nw
now that is a proper ode to the letter 'P'
Yeah, I mean how could you not include the Pen!s?
Ok, gimme my letter. I need somethin' to blog about...
Love this post lady. So fun to read...I'm a little scared to try and do this alphabet thing but....but...I'm just not sure if I can commit right now....
Okay I've thought about it - I want to try - send me a letter - PLEASE make it good...
GREAT List!!! we LOVE Pink around here too! the singer and the color lol
the Penis one was very crafty!!!
Good Job!
She gave me V.
She obviously likes you better.
You did a great job with P...he he it does make you laugh.
I did "Z" at Christmas and tied it into a Christmas alphabet game.
It is harder than it looks!
Great job! ok, Im game, give me a letter too. And I will enlist the help of my hubby too. He is much wittier than I am.
"P"erfect job! I had "F" and I thought it would be hard. But, I cussed the whole way through it and it wasn't bad at all! LOL
I'm in what's my letter?
Gman said thanks for the b-day wishes. He loves when I call him to read comments.
FYI - the meds they used were green & purple sweet tarts. Not bad. I guess they didn't work since my ankle still hurts.
P, smile, Penis, smile....I am still smiling! Nice job!
i feel guilty. I confess that the first word I thought of was "penis" and "phenex" never came to mind.
I am SO with you on those lovely P things. GOOD STUFF! Whoo hoo!
i LOVE preppy and pantone books. love them both.
My industry uses Munsell instead of Pantone- but colors rock! But we match colors of contaminated soil - not quite as fun I guess but interesting.
I believe you came out of your shell a little more on this post and a recent "thankful" one... a little surprised.
Good ode to "p". P is a good letter. I too am a fan of the penis. Really just one in particular.
Ack! I just remembered I requested one of these a while back and have yet to do it--I got N. Which is NOT as easy as a letter as you'd think! You did a great job with your PPPP list!
Oh my gosh...ha haha...of course you can plaster that picture especially under such amazing context!
I'll take that hunk of a man. What else was in this post?
You saw Daniel Craig's penis? Can I have your autograph? heh heh
I have my "R" scheduled for the a.m.
Great job.
I'm picking me jaw up off the floor after seeing the P(enis) word on your blog! I love all your P words (even THAT one). Suddenly I'm dying to hit the porch at my family cabin and enjoy the pine trees. Aaaah.
Wow! A LOST gal. Good stuff. I'm ready for next week! And Daniel Craig is absolutely the best Bond yet (and that picture ain't bad either).
Fun post!
Well done with P! I'm totally with you, 'specially on Pop Culture! :) And be still, my beating heart with that hunka hunka burning Craig! *swoon*
My top ten for P would have to also include pasta, if not pasta and pizza, LOL!
Your P list is positively perfection!
You did a great job with "P"! Love me some pop cutlure, too. And thank you thank you thank you for the Daniel Craig eye candy. Y.U.M.
I did this with the letter "J" while back:
http://shannonsnuthouse.blogspot.com/2008/11/todays-post-has-been-brought-to-you-by.html
Love your P list! I do think it's better than mine!
Question: How come we both got P?
Well done EM, P is a tricky one. For the record I would have gone out of my way to not mention penises... like I need another one of those in my life.
Fantastic list! I didn't count. Are all the letters taken? I'm game.
Why have I not stopped by before now? Your blog is great! Adding you to my blogroll...
