Later today, the sweet random number generator (a.k.a. Youngest) will pick one of my lucky commenters to ride shotgun on the "Em Family Vacation!"
Why?
Because Hubs is officially uninvited.
Interesting.
Did I rescind his holiday pass after receiving the call telling me he got a speeding ticket on the way home yesterday - 64 in a 50 - $186?
Nope.
Maybe it was when I discovered the $75 "running a red light" fine in the mailbox? (You're welcome M.E. - Southlake just earned some extra tax revenue. Do you think I may request a new tree or park bench?)
Negative.
I decided to ban him from the family truckster when he got aggravated with me for taping "The Bachelorette" on the bedroom t.v.
Excuse me!?!?
Misdirected anger, much?
So loyal readers, comment away. And if you promise to bring along a family-sized bag of Twizzlers and an extra large Sonic cherry/lime Coke, you even get to pick the tunes. For all 12 hours.
Fine print: OK, there really isn't a giveaway - sorry. I'm not throwing Hubs out of the car. Yet. He's usually a very safe driver - just a streak of too-much-on-the-mind right now. We're taking this lesson in stride, and embracing it as a sign from our Guardian Angels to slow the hell down and breath while on vacation.
Everyone take care, play nice, enjoy Summer, and I'll see you in a couple of weeks - Em

I want to come! Me! Me! ME!!! PLEEEEEASE! I swear I have a bladder made of iron, I *never* ask "Are we there yet?" nor whine "I'm bored!" and I've only ever been pulled over for speeding once and that was back when I was 19. (*knocking wood*) We don't have a Sonic in our neck of the woods, but I can provide the world's most fantabulous carrot cake and/or cheesecake from a local bakery...
Seriously though, I hope you and yours have a WONDERFUL vacation full of good weather, peaceful relations between family members and lots and lots of FUN and RELAXATION!!!
Have an awesome (and ticket free) vacation!!
I will swap rides...we are driving 18 hours one way hauling a camper! Then back.
And I would like to know who doesn't drive 64 in a 50 mile zone. I think your husband was just unlucky in that case. I've never seen anyone actually ticketed for running a red light and have always wanted to...I'm just saying...
Have fun on the vaycay. We will miss you.
You know, unless I ride up front, I'm a piss poor passenger. Can we make a deal?
Have a safe trip!
So maybe you're not going to throw him out of the car but consider leaving his door unlocked...just in case the spirit moves you. ;)
In all seriousness, have a wonderful time and I'll look forward to hearing all about it when you get back!!!
Heh heh heh.
I'm with ya on the remembering to breath part.
Have a wonderful and ticketless vacation GF!
Ha! I'd so be in here! Yesterday, my husband got a ticket for $185. On the way home from picking up the car at the impound lot, where he managed to get it towed yesterday morning.
No, I'm not kidding. Over $300 in fines and tickets in ONE DAY.
So it's not just your husband, lol!
I would so punch my husband in the face. $260 worth of tickets?!? Wow.
weeks?? No way! Oh well, there's always Facebook.
I call shotgun!
Come visit me before you go. Seriously.
PICK ME PICK ME!!
Oh wait...that's right...I am not allowed to go anywhere or do anything fun. Almost forgot.
Please try to ignore the tan line that the ball and chain that is my life creates on my leg.
If you need me, I'll be sweating my ass off in the yard and ignoring the screams coming from the house. Again.
Ahhhhhhhh....life.
Have a great trip.
;-)

PS - I am into the beginning of this fine year for one seat belt violation and one speeding ticket. I've looked at the exterior of my vehicle, but havent managed to find the sign that says "Pull me over, I'm a raving smartass".
Well, if you change your mind....I've got island fever terribly this summer. We could also visit my sister in Florida, she has a boat.
Haha! I loved your post - it reminded me of last year when my husband had a period of driving "issues" - little fender bender and hit our neighbors car while backing up, speeding ticket and a ticket for illegal u-turn all within a short period. I kinda forgot about it all until we just our new car insurance policy - we'll be paying for those mistakes for awhile!!!!
You crack me up.
Yes, the husband SHOULD be thrown out. How kind of you to keep him.
I was thinking your were serious....lol, too funny:)
cherry limeade for you and a blue coconut cream sluch LARGE please! mmmmmmm yum
I am SO coming with.
That wasn't a question.
I hope that you have a fabulous vacation! I would so want to come with you but I have never had a Sonic drink so I don't have that to offer but I can bring Twizlers. I am so glad to hear that you like those and not Red Vines, yuck.
Hey, my hubs got a speeding ticket one corner from our home. Yes he did. And he was mad at me. Me? Hello, I wasn't even in the car. And madder still when the insurance went up for 6 months. Ugh. I feel your pain. Have a Route 44 drink on me!
I think to be on the safe side, you better do all of the driving on this trip. Otherwise, it will be cheaper to fly!
Oh he a naughty boy. And I would go along but I am in my own vacation "fun" right now. Swing by Weimar.
aloha,
Navywife
Have a wonderful time. I'm SO VERY jealous of where you are going. You know I love it there. Enjoy!!
i would NEVER get mad about that!
I HEART me some reality TV! If it's reality - I'm ALL OVER IT
that bastard.
I can't make it DAM! And I'd offer you so Percocet to calm your nerves.. but it MIGHT kill ya.. so how about an Extra Strenghth Tylenol.. oh wait same thing there... HECK! Maybe some Cherrios, after all they are going to me deemed a drug soon too. And hey BOYS SUCK so lets just go shopping in Vegas!
Have a great trip! And if you change your mind about kicking your hubby out I can be ready in a SNAP and I am an excellent copilot. Just saying...
LOL - I think that's so funny, I often wonder if I would save some of my sanity if I would vaca with my Chosen Child minus Mr. Fix It! LOL!
No giveaway? But you TOTALLY gave me a GREAT idea...how bout a little Tag Team Summer Blogging? It's still forming in my mind, but something like you post something, then my next post has to start with an idea that you left off on, then it passes to the next blogger. I don't know. Any ideas? You're such a Superior Scribbler. Enjoy your vacation!
I'm all about the licorice on a road trip! Yep...I agree with blueviolet!
Have a wonderful vacation!!!
My little perfect mate got a ticket a few weeks ago too. I figure it is just a good thing to hold over his head:)
HAve a fun trip -- I'm searching your blog for something about pacis and hotwheels (i'm a mom of 2 boys :D )
Have a FABULOUS trip.
Sounds like you and I have had the similar song and dance these days. Before I left on vacation I cleaned out "his" side of the closet and discovered not one, but TWO traffic tickets, just from the spring. Yea. Loverly. That $400 could have bought me some pretty things.
Hope you vacation was lovely. We all have those husband moments unfortunately!
Have fun.
While I'm eating my pounds of Twizzlers, I'll be thinking of you.
Boo hoo about those tickets, though. :)
OMG, the tickets! Grrrrr! Yeah, I can see why he is uninvited. LOL
I have something for you on my blog. You are the recipient of the Terrific T-shirt Tuesday headline for this week.
Life...EXAGGERATED
Are we there yet Papa Smurf?
Boooooo for you and your summer break!
I know your on vacation and hopefully lovin it. Check out the award I gave you on my blog:)
OK but is your couple of weeks UP YET? :))
AHAHAHAHAHA! Way too funny! Well, maybe not for your hubby, though... ;) Hope you're having a wonderful vacation - we just got back from ours and I'm trying to get caught up! :)
Hope you're having a great summer and a wonderful time on your trip! Hopefully everything's calmed down now!
Oh and your husband is not alone with the ticket thing. A camera caught me going 54 in a 45 and I had to pay $125. It Sucked. And I didn't even get the pleasure of trying to flirt my way out of it.
