Nicely said! I agree it's important to vote and try to be respectful of others who may not be voting how you do. I'm always afraid to say who I am voting for in fear that whoever is asking will get indignant if I mention the name!!

It is interesting to see what non-military folks talk about. I live in military housing, my book club is military wives, we go to Mass at a Military Chapel where we sing "Eternal Father" every week and pray for the POW and MIA....to put it mildly I live in a bubble of my own choosing.
That said, it is interesting to see the views of the "outside"world. I can not speak for all in my bubble but I can say that most of us see it as our once every 4 years chance to vote on our boss. Something I am sure civilians would love to do at times. And as most know, we military types do tend to vote a majority of the time one way. We don't talk about it, it is all understood.... you vote the way you want but come January the guy signing our pay checks is also the guy who decides where you husband is gong to put his life on the line. He (perhaps she someday) is now the BOSS. So we all pray for wisdom, strength and peace...not so much in the world but in our homes, where ever that may be right now or a year from now.
When we say God Bless America....... Wow, wow wubbzie do we mean it.

PS: the reason I choose to stay Anonymous is not to be a coward but because we know for a fact that personal information about Military service family members found on the internet has been used to threaten Active Duty Americans by not so nice people. Another part of my daily "bubble" but not the biggest part :0)

I've been really private about who I'm voting for- which is another reason I haven't gotten yard signs this time. With all the controversy and my confrontational manner, its probably best to keep it to myself.

Wep - Very good question!! When I think about it, I probably would have - it wasn't my issue with who she's voting for, I don't care, it was that she asked at all - in a world where sex and salary talk is rampant, I believe voting is still a very personal matter.

Amen to that! The process works because we all decide which candidates we connect with and show support for. I think people forget that even if the 'other guy' wins, they can still make a difference by keeping their opposing views in the heads of those who won and reminding them that not everyone agrees. A flawed, yet wonderful system.

here, here, little em! my kids are TOTALLY into this election, with their views being mostly shaped by their father. i am trying to balance his extreme views by offering counterpoints, even if i don't necessarily buy into all them, myself, just to give them some perspective. i want them to see that there are many approaches to the same issue and even if they think one way is best, they need to respect others that disagree. i THINK it is working.
